    Let’s Get To Know “Garnet”

💚Garnets are a family of gemstones representing a group of silicate minerals with similar compositions and crystal structures.
💚Garnet crystals are very similar in shape and color to pomegranate seeds, hence the name “garnet”. Garnet is the birthstone for the month of January, representing chastity, sincerity, love and fidelity. It is also the gemstone for the second wedding anniversary.

    Color:
🟢Garnets come in a wide variety of colors, covering all colors except blue, from the common red, green, orange, yellow-purple to the rare colorless.

    • Burgundy:The most familiar color, deep and warm, is the more common variety on the market.
    • Fuchsia (purple-red): Purplish in tone and rich in color, it is a higher grade of garnet.
    • Orange-red: Color with orange tones, more lively and bright
    • Rose red: With a certain pink or rose tone, more unique and popular
    • demantoid: emerald green in color, sometimes with a strong dispersion effect, from the Ural Mountains of Russia and Iran and other places, very precious.
    • Tsavorite: Also a type of green garnet, known for its vivid green color and high transparency, it is highly valued.
    • Yellow and Orange: Includes bright orange garnets and the more distinctive soft yellow garnets.
    • Purple: Although less common, purple garnets are attractive for their mysterious coloration.
    • Brown and Black: Garnets in these colors are more common, but have a relatively low value and are often used as decorative stones.
    • Other rare colors: including blue and colorless, etc.

    Classification basis

🟢Garnets are not a single mineral, but a group of chemically complex silicate minerals that always contain two metallic elements. Depending on the type of the two metallic elements, they can be divided into two series, which are subdivided into six categories:

    • Aluminum garnet series — magnesium aluminum garnet, iron aluminum garnet, manganese aluminum garnet.
    • Calcium garnet series — calcium chromium garnet, calcium aluminum garnet, calcium iron garnet.

    🟢Common Garnets:

    • Fenderite (Manganese Aluminum Garnet): Fenderite, also known as Orange Garnet, is a Manganese Aluminum Garnet that has reached the gem-quality level, and has been popular with jewelry enthusiasts in recent years because of its highly saturated orange color, which makes it look very warm.
    • Tsavorite (Calcium Aluminum Garnet): Tsavorite comes from the Tsavor region of Kenya and was only discovered in the middle of the last century, its fresh and beautiful color made it quickly accepted by the market. The delicate green color of tsavorite has a high value and is a new favorite with the greatest investment potential.
    • Magnesia Garnet: Often referred to as the red pomegranate, it varies in color from light maroon to light purplish red. It is internally clean with occasional acicular bodies.
    • Ferroaluminum garnet: The most common variety of garnet. The main colors are: maroon, purplish red, and deep red. The inclusions are usually acicular rutile crystals.
    • Demantoid (Calcite Garnet): Cuirassite can be said to be the Rolls Royce of garnets. The color is mostly green, yellow is rare. The inclusions are generally horsetail filament inclusions
    • Iron Calcium Aluminum Garnet:Cinnamon Garnet, the color is usually light brownish yellow, light brownish red. The interior is generally orange-red inclusions, rounded crystals and greaves.
    • Calcium Chromium Garnet: basically all that can be seen in the market are in raw form.

    Grades
    🟢Garnets are categorized into grades 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A and 7A.

    • Grade 7A: Garnet crystals are almost fully translucent, with few impurities and almost no ice cracks, making it a collector’s item.
    • Grade 6A: High translucency, close to vitreous, trace impurities, few ice cracks.
    • Grade 5A: Garnet crystals are translucent, uniform color, basically no ice cracks and impurities in each piece.
    • Grade 4A: Garnet crystals are translucent, uniform color, a few ice cracks and black spots in each.
    • Grade 3A: Transparent garnet crystals, uniform color, ice cracks, a little more cotton wool and a few black spots of impurities.
    • Grade 2A: Garnet crystals are darker in color, generally translucent, with more ice cracks, lint and black spots.
    • Grade 1A: garnet crystals are black in color, very opaque, almost dark black, with a lot of lint and ice cracks.

    Garnet Origin:
🟢Garnets come from many different regions and countries. The main garnet producing regions are: India, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Tanzania.

    Identification and Selection
🟢Observe the color:A genuine garnet is pure and brilliant in color, while a fake garnet is very colorful and translucent.
🟢Observe the inclusions:Real garnets are prone to black spots and ice cracks, while fake garnets are cleaner and more intact inside.
ps: This is one of the reasons why garnet beads are usually small in size!
🟢Observe the luster.:A garnet with good luster has a spiritual look. Fake garnets have poor luster and look dull.
🟢Heat Method:Test the garnet with a thermal conductivity meter. After placing it on the meter for a few minutes, if the dot on the meter shows red color, the garnet is genuine; if the dot on the meter does not change, the garnet is fake.

🔔PS: The purple color of garnet is more precious and valuable than the burgundy color.

    ✨ Efficacy:
🟢Garnet is very well known as a woman’s stone, and has a greater impact on a woman’s conditioning, beauty, and improving her complexion.
🟢Garnet is also known as the stone of vitality, corresponding to good rest and the recovery of physical strength and vigor.
🟢Garnet has the effect of regulating endocrine secretion and promoting detoxification during physiological period, relieving pain and relieving weakness of qi and blood.
